In Pictures: Discover Elmgreen and Dragset’s disturbing new exhibition on the human body in the post-industrial age

Elmgreen and Dragset took over the Fondazione Prada in Milan for a show called “Useless Bodies?” which focuses on Big Tech and its impact on our lives.

The works, according to an exhibition statement, explore “the current condition of the body in the post-industrial era, in which it seems our physical presence is losing its centrality.”

The body, indeed, can even now be “completely superfluous”.

“One could argue that our physical selves have even become more of a hindrance than an advantage,” the artists said in a statement. “Twenty years into the 21st century, the status of the body is now that of a product – with our data being collected and sold by Big Tech.”

Many of the characters in the work are in precarious positions: climbing walls, perched atop a ladder, crammed into the backseat of a car and, in one particularly disturbing instance, half-rolled in the freezer of a movie. a morgue.

“Elmgreen & Dragset: Useless Bodies?” is visible until August 22, 2022.
