Calm on set; we are ready to roll! We headed over to Universal Studios Hollywood today to check out some construction projects and see what’s new. So come see everything we found at Universal Studios Hollywood in today’s photo essay.
First, shopping. We found a new Halloween t-shirt and ornament for the recently announced Halloween Maze at Halloween Horror Nights.
We also spotted this super cool and highly detailed Gill-man action figure from “Creature from the Black Lagoon”.
Speaking of HHN and monsters, we found out about construction going on in Curious George’s overflow lot. We have a truck out front now, and the whole place is starting to get really organized.
Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen have grown about as far as we’ll see for a while, with much of the activity taking place inside the currently gutted building.
But as new things get built, some existing decorations and billboards are really starting to show their age.
The punishing Southern California sun takes its toll on everything.
At some point, though, can’t someone grab a bottle of spray glue and a tall ladder to smooth things over a bit?
In front of Universal Cinemas is an interesting historical timeline for Pride Month. With the annual Pride is Universal event returning a week away and Pride Month in full swing, it’s a great educational way to have fun.
Speaking of pride, we found some more of the Love is Universal collection of rainbow apparel and accessories inside the park. The versions get better every time, and this hat is the coolest yet.
But honestly, this backpack is the show stopper. It is durable, well made and has several high end little attributes like the lay flat rainbow zipper and side handle to name a few which makes it one of the best looking backpacks available in the park.
You can take a look at everything we found here.
In other merchandise news, we finally got the Hagrid plush that Universal Orlando Resort got a few weeks ago.
We also have a Mrs. Norris plush, if you want something to frown on forever.
Better late than never, two Fantastic Beasts magnets have finally arrived at the park. The rest of this collection was released to coincide with the film in April, but these were delayed.
We’ve also found two new wands – the Collector’s Edition 2022 wand, as seen above, and the James Potter wand, as seen below.
And this cute little Hogwarts backpack made its debut in the park, complete with a Hogwarts keyring. Take a look at both right here.
Another Biosyn shirt has arrived at the park, this time for the kids.
And for all the fans of those little yellow balls of energy, the Minions, a new cup is also available at the park.
We also found other ET, Back to the Future, and Jaws merchandise as part of the Retro Movie Collection.
This Darth Vader action figure…er, we mean the Radiation Suit Marty action figure…is our favorite.
It’s a hot day at a theme park, and that means it’s time for a cold, sweet treat. These macarons from French Street Bistro are perfect in sweetness, size and price.
Accompanied by an iced mocha, it’s a great snack to beat the heat.
Speaking of cold, sweet treats, those specialty cocktails that debuted on a seasonal menu at Cocina Mexicana have been moved to the permanent menu now and are available for the foreseeable future. You can see our entire review of these cocktails and a platter of Cocina Mexicana sopes in our video review, here:
In Super Nintendo World, construction moves faster than a blue shell on Rainbow Road.
Bowser’s Castle is nearing completion and Bowser’s crest shield is affixed to the central tower.
Outside the field, the building wall has been updated to reflect the “Start 2023” date.
The HHN build behind Revenge of the Mummy – the Ride looks almost complete visibly on the facade.
And in other Lower Lot news, the once-temporary tables that were set up for Grad Bash, then the park’s takeover by USH Pass members, are still available for day guests.
We really hope they stay put, and maybe umbrellas can join them. It’s a nice place to hang out with your cocktail from Isla Nu-Bar or your ridiculous overwrapped ice cream sundae from Studio Scoop.
In the Studio Store on the Lower Lot, we found a pair of new shirts featuring park icons, including the Studio Tour tram.
Our Martini Shot of the day comes from inside the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, where snow and icicles belie the insane heat wave sweeping through Southern California right now. It’s going to be a long, hot summer.
Thanks for riding with us on our photo op from Universal Studios Hollywood. It’s a wrap!
