BEMIDJI – Watermark Art Center will host an “Art Through the Lens” presentation by photographer Lowell Wolff from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 16 at Watermark, 505 Bemidji Ave. NOT.
“Wolff will discuss his take on the difference between ‘taking’ and ‘taking’ a photo,” said a statement. “When shooting, he begins with the intention of using artistic elements in creating a much more nuanced image than just ‘taking’ a photo to capture the subject.”
Applying visual arts elements such as lighting, patterns, guidelines, shapes, textures and composition, Wolff uses camera tools such as shutter speed and depth of view to create his final image, according to the statement.
The doors will open at 5.30 p.m., the conference will begin at 6 p.m. with a question-and-answer session to follow. The event is free and registration is not required.
