It explodes at 818 Studios in Tremont—or at least the photographic prints are.
Image by Jef JanisTomorrow, Friday May 8, Le Grand Salon de la Photographie– a group exhibit featuring 16 Cleveland photographers showing a selection of large prints, 16 inches by 20 inches or larger – to really make an impact and showcase some of the artistic eyes of veteran and new photographers in the area.
At a time when most of us are used to looking at photographs on the internet and often seeing smaller-scale photos, Studio 818 owner and photographer Barbara Merritt says this exhibit is meant to allow views to really experience this art form.
“Photography is about the physical impression, not what you see on the internet,” says Merritt. “Like a painting, photography has the texture and feel of a physical work of art that can only be experienced fully in person. The subtleties that we photographers work hard to achieve often go unnoticed in the content. website.
Each of the 16 artists featured in the exhibition, including FreshWater’s own managing photographer, Bob Perkoski, will present two to three prints that are at least 16 inches by 20 inches.
“It’s a chance to see the talent behind every photograph and the hard work that goes into every print,” says Merritt. “It’s going to be a GREAT show!”
