Text description provided by the architects. Several football fields, several green ponds and a rest station float on a body of water, as if the lotus leaves in the lotus pond gathered and scattered, forming a site of public activity on the right bank. of the Maozhou River, which has the functions of sports, purifying the wetland, changing clothes and getting wet, and resting and entertaining. The site is far from busy downtown Shenzhen, and the design hopes to retain the site’s original, raw feel. Therefore, the form of expression of raw concrete is chosen to do away with redundant and tedious decorations, so that the structure and space can be directly presented.

In addition to the sports function, another major objective of the construction of the park is to achieve a certain hydraulic function of water purification. In order to reflect this characteristic, the design adopts reinforced concrete tubular arch with outer diameter of 1.3m and wall thickness of 200mm to convey the intention of “water pipe”, which in fact the central element of expression of the space as a horizontal member of the structure.

Taking the distance from the radial axis of the tubular arch of 2.4 m as the basic module, the bracing walls and steel columns I are arranged according to the user’s demand for the functional space for the span. In order to make the building as light as possible and achieve a smooth connection between the vertical and horizontal components, the design controls the size of the structural thickness of the barrel arch, wall and column to 200mm. The 200mm square column section exceeds the allowable limit of the reinforced concrete column section, so the design finally adopts a steel column I and inserts concrete into the groove to get a smaller column section that meets code requirements. The tube arch conforms to the horizontal and vertical arrangement of the vertical members, and its structural shape effectively integrates the beam plate, resolves the direction of protrusion of the high beam section, achieves the span of 9.6m and the 4.8m cantilever distance, thus obtaining the free and diffused feeling of the space below.

The practice of removing the decorative surface with clean water places higher demands on the concealment of pipelines of mechanical and electrical equipment. We adopt the cabinet and floor air supply mode to avoid the exposure of the air conditioning machine and pipeline in the space. The wire is hidden by recessing the wall and the top surface.

In order to show the structural beauty of the tubular arch at night, the lighting form is fully taken into account. All one-way barrel arches are washed and illuminated by upper lights arranged at displaced intervals to enhance the sense of rhythm and sequence of the upper surface space. For the functional space below, use of the adjustable position and angle of the track lights to accommodate changing needs. The cross-arch area formed by the intersection of two-way partial barrel arches is used for changing clothes, rain and toilets. The design adopts customized disk lamp to illuminate the space below through the reflection of the arch, so as to achieve a uniform lighting effect around.
